Bae the Bloodless Cosplay Tutorial

Making two cosplays at a time seemed like a great idea before I started… Thankfully Bae was on the simpler end of cosplay construction, so if you are looking to create your own Moon-touched Girl cosplay, here are my tips and tricks.

You can also check out the final pictures of the cosplay (along with the Reader and Ti’Zo), or my video breakdown.

This cosplay would not have been possible without the amazing support of my Patrons over on Patreon.

Under-dress

The first layer is the black underdress. I used some drapy black fabric that I had on hand, it was (probably a polyester blend). I would recommend anything with a light hand, and a good amount of drape, maybe even some texture, like this black crepe fabric. The skirt portion was a three-quarter cirlce skirt, with a waistband wide enough for me to slip it on over my head. The Top portion was a rectangle, wide enough to go around my chest, with the shoulder extended to the tie on the shoulder.

I left the bottom hem unfinished, and weathered it, fraying and cutting the edge. I also Added some tucks and gathers by hand to get the neckline to lie the way I wanted consistently.

Tabbard

The tabbard is made of two mostly rectangle shapes, sewed together at the shoulder seam. There are tabs of velcro at the waist to keep the two side together. Like the underdress the bottom edges were left unfinished and distressed. For the fabric I used a sateen finish grey bottom weight, light enough to have some flow but study enough to hold it’s shape.

The design on the front was done with Cricut gold iron on vinyl, and based off the reference images, with some unknown details filled in by my best guess. The Crictu needed to be done in overlapping sections as the material did not come in big enough sheets.

The Waist is cinched with a black cord, long enough to wrap around the waist several times.

Cape

The cape was made of a grey linen look fabric. None of the edges are finished, and I added a significant amount of weathering to really give the aged and dirty look that I think Bae should have. For the color weathering I used Angelus Leather paint in brown and black. The shape is vaguely rhombus like, matching the diagonal line of the back tabbard, this is to give it plenty of drape.

I pleated and stiched the cape in pace at the shoulder seam and under the armpit To keep verything from sliding backwards duye tot he weight, I ended up attaching it with a safety pin directly to my bra strap.

Accessories

I made her necklace out of some fake acrons, and a leather cord. It simply ties in the back.

The stick star was made out of, you guesssed it, sticks that I gathered. They were lashed together and a fake leaf was added.

The wider arm bands were made with some stretchy fabric, sewn into loops. The narrower lines and patterns were drawn on using eyeliner, I recommend getting a buddy for this.

My wig was the Page Whisper Lite Paige Wig in Silvery Moon. To style it I back combed it and combined out most of the curls to muss the whole thing up. I applied a lot of hair spray to keep as much volume as possible. The leaves were trimmed to shape and strategically pinned in place in the hair. For my contacts I wore the Red Block contacts from Funky Eyes.
