Black Widow Cosplay: Accessories How To

As I discussed in my analysis post there are quite a few accessories to Black Widow. So here is how I made and acquired them:

Widow’s Bites

I didn’t end up printing or casting them, mostly because I was in a time and money crunch and didn’t have the resources to spend sadly – someday…

I purchased this bullet bandolier, and deconstructed it. I kept the small black rings, and super glued them in place. Then I spray painted each of them black, and after they were dry I drilled two holes through them and threaded thing elastic. I ended up using about 13 bullets per wrist, and the effect worked pretty well for not too much time or money.

Holster

I made the holster out of black cotton, webbing and these buckles from Strapworks. I used three 1″ and one 1 1/2″ as well as three 1″ slides.

Black Widow Cosplay Pouch

The pouches were made with craft foam over cardboard, then spray painted back and finished with a little silver paint for a more metallic look. They were literally sewed to the holster (through the craft foam), which was a surprisingly effective solution.

Belt

The belt wad printed using this pattern on thingverse and I filled in the center with paperclay, follwed by painting with acrylic. Then I superglued it to a strip of suit fabric, with a hook and eye closure.

Gloves

These ended up being surprisingly difficult. I bought a pair on amazon which ended up being far to padded and I even attempted to size them down but that didn’t work. In then end I used a pair of black cotton gloves with the fingers cut off that I already had, not ideal at all but it was the week before ECCC and goodwill did not have anything better. For next time, I am keeping my eye open for something better.

Other

I bought two Glock 26 airsoft pistols from amazon, they had orange tips (which I wanted so they would be Con appropriate), and as I also learned are apparently airsoft replicas of the ones used in the movie. Also cheap.

Dyed my hair with henna from mehandi. Seriously try it if you want to go red!

Boots that I already owned, from Merrel, and are very comfortable though not screen accurate.

seriously i guess we cosplayers think alike! I made the belt the same way. what i did is made the belt then was going to add the buckle part, but i liked the hook eye, it felt more secure. i also did the bullets too! except i didn’r keep the black plastic. i stabbed holes in the plastic bullets and used my bead needles to thread some heavy duty elastic through a few holes. to make it even easier to use i then “sewed” the elastic bullet bands onto a piece of 2″ thick Black Elastic and sewed the ends together. i did this to cover the glove straps and the sleeve of the cat suit. I’ve got pictures of all the products i’ve done and i’m working on another set, it’ll be posted to my blog here eventually.

but thank you for linking to the belt pattern! i bought mine off etsy and i hated it so i’m redoing it in my own way and of course i cant seem to get it to work right LOL hopefully the pattern you linked to will help me!

love your blog! i just started on here myself so my page is kinda empty.

That sounds like a great way to make the wrists – please show me pictures when it’s all put together! Good luck!
